Workshop Outline

  • What is Unity3D and how does it helps developing games/gamified projects
  • Setting up the first project
    • Creating a project from scratch
  • A basic introduction to Unity3D interface
    • Discussing various windows on Unity3D
  • Introduction to components in Unity3D
    • Discussing different components in Unity3D and their usage
  • Setting up a game environment
    • Setting up the basic platform and surroundings of a roll a ball game
  • Coding our first movement of the character
    • Writing our first C# script for character movement with controls (keyboard/ mouse control)
  • Designing Camera movement for the character
    • Making the camera follow the character using C# scripts/setup from the hierarchy window
  • Designing UI for the game (Introduction to UI system)
    • Designing the UI system of the game. (Implementing Score card)
  • Designing point collection and scoring system for the game
    • Incrementing score on point collection using C# script and Unity collision/trigger system
  • Designing random point generation (point generator)
    • Using the C# script we will automate the point generation on the platform. Introduction to prefabs in Unity3D.
  • Setting up obstacles – Let’s make it more fun to play!!
    • Putting some obstacles to make the game a bit more challenging
  • Designing the game end UI.
    • Designing the User interface for game-end scenarios on collision with obstacles.
  • Introduction to Animation system in Unity3D
    • Creating a simple animation for the obstacles and points
  • Materials in Unity3D
    • Understanding the concept of material and its usage
  • Introduction to building system in Unity3D
    • Building our game on the Windows platform and giving ideas about other platforms.
  • Testing out our first game!!!
    • Testout the game that we have built.
  • Discussion about some useful things in Unity3D (if coverable within a given time)
    • Scriptable objects
    • Useful packages- Leantween/ AR / VR / XR
